Installation with Proper Placement

Optimal Camera Placement

Each vehicle type has its own mounting best practices. Driver•i systems should be centered behind the windshield, ideally behind the rearview mirror if present, with a clear view of the road ahead. The driver-facing lens must also have an unobstructed view for coaching features to function correctly.

  • Standard Vehicles:

    • Use adhesive or bracket mounts with a direct line of sight.

  • Commercial Trucks:

    • Mount higher on the windshield to capture broader views.

  • Specialty Fleets:

    • Custom mounting options are available for buses, vans, or equipment vehicles.

Clean, Secure Installs

Before mounting, ensure the glass surface is clean and dry. Use the included alignment tools or positioning template for exact placement. The device must be firmly secured to prevent vibration or camera drift, which can interfere with video clarity and AI accuracy.

Power & Wiring Made Simple

​Driver•i devices draw power through ignition and are designed for simple 3-wire connections: ground, ignition, and battery. For plug-and-play convenience, optional OBD-II or fuse box connectors are available. Our diagrams and labeled harnesses make the process fast and intuitive.

No, Driver•i devices are designed for straightforward self-installation. With clear instructions and the Driver•i Installer App, most fleets can set up the system without professional assistance. However, if you prefer expert support, our certified technicians are available to assist remotely or onsite.

2. What do the LED indicators on the device signify?

The LED lights provide status updates:
 

  • Flashing Red: Device is booting up.

  • Solid Green: Device is operational and recording.

  • Green and Red: Privacy mode is active; inward-facing camera is off.
